Hot and Nutty Cereal

I love oatmeal (porridge).  That's love with a capital "L".  It was one of the highlights - or quite possibly the only highlight - of a damp, grey, cold winter morning in England.  A big, steaming bowl of stand-your-spoon-up-in-it-thick, freshly cooked oatmeal with ladles of clumpy, brown sugar…

Gnocchi with Squash and Sweet Corn

I am a self-declared pasta junkie (make that Italian food junkie), but have tendency to forget all about it during the warmer weather months. I often delegate these coveted carbs to fall and winter, when I am craving a hearty lasagna or a rich bolognese. I recently had an Aha! moment when I realized that fresh summer vegetables are just begging to be paired with pastas of all kinds—and not just in the obvious pasta salad. I know I am probably the last person to think of this, but surely better late than never.

Crock Pot Vegetarian Split Pea Soup

Soup is always an easy choice to make in a crockpot. Just add the ingredients in the morning, and forget about it until you are ready to eat it hours later. Although many split pea soup recipes use ham for added flavor, this vegetarian and vegan version packs in the spices, including thyme, sage and bay leaves for a lower fat and cholesterol version of classic split pea soup.

Ham and Cheese Breakfast Casserole

We're heading into the fall holiday season, which means that brunch casseroles are about to enjoy their heyday. So we decided to revisit one of our most popular recipes ever — a recipe published several years ago for a breakfast bake with bread, pancetta, Gruyere, and eggs. I'm afraid that I'll sound horribly hyperbolic if I talk about this recipe too long. It's rich, eggy, and unbelievably, incredibly delicious. This is one to memorize, folks, and to pull out for in-laws and overnight guests. It may just be the very best brunch casserole we've ever made.

Breakfast Grain Salad

The search for tasty, healthy breakfast dishes is a neverending quest. I am always looking for a breakfast that can be made ahead and munched on for several days, offering a tasty, easy meal each weekday morning. In the winter, my standby is my beloved steel-cut oatmeal, and sometimes, if I have extra time on the weekend, I'll make up a big pan of egg casserole with seasonal vegetables. But now, as the summer heats up, what to make? Here's my latest venture: A fluffy, tender grain salad with oats, quinoa, and millet, nutty with hazelnuts and bursting with blueberries.

photo Pineapple Mango Chicken Wings Recipe | Say Mmm

Pineapple Mango Chicken Wings

A different spin on hot wings... Yes, a paleo friendly sweet & spicy wing sauce exists. If you follow a Paleo or Primal template, you've already discovered  most BBQ and wing sauces are awful. Try finding one that doesn't have high fructose corn syrup as the first ingredient and  one without sugar. That's why you're here. Today we're going to make a sauce much better than you can find in stores.  This sauce contains the sweetness of pineapple and mango, slowly followed by the heat of jalapeno and habanero. The wings are pre broiled in an oven, and then added to the crock pot with the sauce to finish cooking. The crock pot helps infuse the sauce with the wings to create a fall off the bone texture. We are mighty proud of the sauce we created, and will definitely include it in some future recipes.  I hope you guys enjoy this recipe as much as I do.
