A healthified version of General Tso's Chicken. Stir-fried till crisp and tender and coated in a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. This is a great week night meal that you don't have to feel guilty about serving your family.
Refreshing. Crisp. Flavorful. Healthy-ish. BBQ Chicken Salad. Probably one of my favorite salad combos ever. Ranks right up there with this one. Oh and this one and this one. Gotta love a great dinner salad. One Year Ago: Cream Biscuits
You can mix these incredibly easy, fudge cookies right in the saucepan. When freshly baked, these thin cookies have crisp edges and chewy centers. You can make them with either Dutch process or natural unsweetened cocoa powder; we opted for the latter.
Crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside, these salsa-topped cakes make a lovely vegetarian entree. They offer a great way to use leftover basmati rice; if you're starting with cooked rice, use about 1 1/2 cups. Add mixed greens to the plate for even more color.
Note: if you don't have a gas burner, you can roast the chilis under the broiler element. Just place them as close as possible and cook on high heat, turning them occasionally until completely charred and blistered....
A generous portion of this hearty beef-barley soup is satisfying as a one-dish meal. If chuck roast is on sale, purchase a large one and freeze the rest for later. If not, ask your butcher to cut off only the amount you need.
This breakfast bake topped with runny eggs by F&W's Grace Parisi develops a terrific texture as it cooks slowly in a glass dish (which makes it easy to see when the bottom is perfectly browned). As one F&W editor remarked on tasting it, "I worship the crisp bottom and the chewy, moist bread."
Besides being a great side to simple roast chicken or beef tenderloin, seasonal squash provides more than a day's worth of vitamin A and about half the daily recommended vitamin C.
These flaky biscuits make an attractive, dusky-orange topping for the vegetable potpies; alternatively, they can be cooked separately and served alongside roast meat and poultry or even eaten by themselves for breakfast.
